In modern electrical and automation systems, reliable cable termination is essential to maintain safety and performance. One widely used component in this field is the Metal Cable Gland, which provides mechanical fixation, environmental sealing, and electrical continuity for cable entry points.

A Metal Cable Gland is typically manufactured from materials such as brass, stainless steel, or nickel-plated aluminum. These materials are selected based on corrosion resistance, mechanical strength, and temperature stability. For example, stainless steel versions can operate in environments ranging from -40°C to +120°C, while brass variants are commonly rated for industrial conditions with moderate chemical exposure.

Structurally, a Metal Cable Gland consists of a body, sealing insert, clamping nut, and rubber or elastomeric sealing ring. The compression mechanism ensures that the cable is tightly secured while maintaining ingress protection. Standard protection ratings often reach IP66 or IP68, meaning resistance to dust and water immersion depending on installation quality.

From a technical perspective, torque control is important during installation. Typical tightening torque values range between 8 Nm and 25 Nm depending on thread size (M16, M20, M25, M32, etc.). Incorrect torque may reduce sealing efficiency or damage the cable sheath.

Metal cable glands are widely used in automation panels, marine equipment, industrial machinery, and outdoor electrical enclosures. Their ability to maintain grounding continuity is especially important when used with armored cables, ensuring electrical safety under fault conditions.
