Today, they are vibrant digital marketplaces and critical network hubs. The trend is moving beyond simple connectivity to rich, software-defined interconnection fabrics. Leading colocation providers like Equinix and Digital Realty have built platforms that allow customers to dynamically and privately connect to a vast ecosystem of partners—including all the major cloud providers, hundreds of network carriers, and thousands of other enterprises—all within the same facility or campus.
